Obituary:
Dorothy Ann Sorrell Walton, went to be with the Lord on September 28, 2003. Her husband was the late Percy L. Walton of Dunn, NC. She was the daughter of the late Willie Thomas and Lula Jane Sorrell, also of Dunn, NC. She was a graduate of Hoyle Secretarial and Business School and worked at Dunn City Clerks office for nine years. She also worked at Betsy Johnson Memorial for twelve years before moving to Virginia Beach, VA to be with her children. She worked at Dr. William Vohringers/Eric Bryants Chiropractors before her cancer of two and a half years ago. She was predeceased by her oldest son, Ritchie, in May of 1999. Surviving are her son, Gary S. Walton and wife Lois of Virginia Beach, VA; daughter, Ann W. Diehl and husband Rick of Virginia Beach, VA; and grandchildren, Danny Ray Fisher, Julie Ann Diehl, Melissa Ann Walton, Russell Adam Johnson, Misty Dawn Woodson and Katherine Janean Diehl; two great grandchildren, Dustin Ray Fisher and Olivia Michelle Carr; sisters, Lela Miller and Velma Creech of Benson, NC, Lula Jane Weeks of Erwin, NC, Sybil Mabry of Angier, NC and Laura Langdon of Dunn, NC; and one brother, Shirley Sorrell of Angier, NC. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 2, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by Rev. Dr. Kelly Burris. Burial will follow in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
