Robert Thomas Shelley August 17, 1917- July 13, 2006 COLUMBUS, GA- Robert Thomas Shelley, 88, of 6830 River Road, Columbus, Ga., died Thursday, July 13, 2006. Graveside Services with full military honors will be held Monday, July 17, 2006 at 12 Noon EST at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Greg Paul and Rev. Jim Swilley officiating, according to Vance-Brooks Funeral Home in Columbus, Ga. The family will receive friends at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home Sunday, July 16, 2006 from 6 to 9 p.m. EST. Mr. Shelley was born August 17, 1917 in Headland, AL, the son of the late Robert Gordon Shelley and Vinnie Bell Miller Shelley. He was retired from the United States Army with 20 years service, and a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Shelley is preceded in death by his wife, Hettie Irene Tew Shelley, three brothers, Willie Curtis Shelley, Malley Miller (Dude) Shelley, Sanford "Sam" Shelley and a sister, Mary Alyce Mixon. He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Shelley Rosella and her husband Robert of Columbus, Ga.; two sisters, Sara Gwendolyn Doss of Waco, Texas and Winnie Rose Capps and her husband Jackie of Webb, Ala.; four brothers: Grover Cleveland Shelley and wife Vivian of Louisville, Ky., Aaron Jeffery Shelley and wife Vi of Dothan, Ala., Franklin Delano Shelley and wife Voncille of Headland, Ala. and Carl Ray Shelley of Alexandria, La.; two grandchildren, Leigh-Ann Paul and her husband Greg and Joseph Andrew Rosella and fiance Bethany Whitaker; two great grandchildren, Zoe Paul and Rock Paul; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Mike and JoEllen Bradley and members of the 553rd Engineering Company U.S. Army.
