The product of his iron works was said to be of a superior quality and anchors and iron portions of whaling ships that sailed out of New London were made at his works. Both of Samuel Whipple's grandfathers, namely John Whipple and Thomas Harris, were non-conformists, and has removed to Rhode Island to escape persecution in Mass.
