William and Mary Ann were among the first settlers of Henry County, Georgia. He came to Henry County in 1824. Near the end of the year he went back to Morgan County and brought his wife Mary Ann and his three children, Mary Ann, Elizabeth and John Jasper to their home. The house to which he brought them was a cabin with a dirt floor, chimney with cracks in the walls on the Cotton-Indian River. Later he was a substantial and much respected citizen and a man of some means for his day.
