Notes |
- Philip was probably born in 1805 as his parents did not marry until 1804 and next closest sibling was born 1807. Philip's tombstone (along with Philip Jr. and Martha Shoemake Edmondson McCall) was erected years after their deaths by Philip Porter Edmondson. He was not in possession of any family Bibles so the dates were probably from memory and likely to be off. Susan Emma Terral Edmondson and later Katie Edmondson Corbin were in possession of any known Bibles (along with old photos) - they were stolen from the nursing home in Columbia, Louisiana when Katie died, before her son Bobby Corbin could arrive from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Wayne County Courthouse, Mississippi, burned completly in 1895 - no records survived. Clarke County Mississippi has been checked and records are complete and no Edmondson marriage (any spelling) for the time period of 1850-1865 was recorded. So Philip and Martha must have been married in Wayne County, Mississippi as they are also shown on the 1866 Mississippi State census in Wayne and the first child of that marriage was in 1865.
