William Arthur Carrier
William Arthur Carrier, of Lockwood, MO, departed this life on Wednesday, March 29, 2006, in St. John's Hospital, Spring?field, at the age of 86 years. He was born on October 2, 1919, in Guthrie, OK to the late William A. and Lela Mae (Cloud) Carrier.
Arthur was a 1937 Lock?wood High School graduate and a 1941 A&M Oklahoma College graduate. He was united in mar?riage to Mary Pauline Knier on August 17, 1941 in Lockwood, MO and she preceded him in death on December 3, 2005.
Arthur was a cattleman, Angus breeder and farmer in Dade County. He was a faithful member and deacon for many years at the Lockwood First Baptist Church. He was a mem?ber of the Men's Sunday School Class and treasurer for the Mis?souri Baptist Association.
Arthur served on the Board of Directors for Ozark Electric Cooperative for more than 38 years, where he held all posi?tions on the board. He also served on the K.A.M.O. Electric Power Cooperative Board for 30 years and the Associated Elec?tric Cooperative in Springfield for 12 years. The Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives honored Arthur with two presti?gious awards. He was the recipi?ent of the highly-respected 2002 Distinguished Service Award and the A.C. Burrows Award for outstanding service.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his loving wife, Mary Pauline Carrier and one brother, Herbert Carrier.
Survivors include three sons, James Arthur Carrier and his wife Mariann of Monett, MO, David Ray Carrier and his wife Carolyn of Lockwood, MO and Nolan Dewey Carrier and his wife Susan of Springfield, MO; one brother, Phil Carrier and his wife Evelyn of Portland, OR; five grandchildren, James Ronald Carrier and his wife Leslie, Chuck Carrier and his wife Jack?ie, Harry Carrier and his wife Tara, Heather Carrier, Dana Turner and her husband Tony; six great-grandchildren, Eric Troy, Grace, William, Isaac and Toni Marie; five sisters-in-law, Nadine Smith of Lockwood, MO, Vinita Murrell of Lockwood, MO, Duetta Edwards and her hus?band Jim of Salem, MO, Martha Fortner and her husband Roy of Lee's Summit, MO and Ruth Carrier of Memphis, TN; several nieces, nephews and other rela?tives.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006, in Lockwood First Baptist Church with Rev. Nolan Carrier and Rev. Gordon Rhodes officiating. Bur?ial followed in Kings Point Cemetery. The family received friends Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lockwood First Baptist Church Annie Arm?strong Easter Offering or to the Ozark Electric Scholarship Pro?gram. Services were under the care of Lockwood Funeral Chapel.
