- Obituary:
John D. "Cookie" Cook, 70, of 1942 Spyglass Lane, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.
In keeping with his wishes, private family services were held at the Hoffmann-Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, 1640 Main St.
He was born on Dec. 10, 1939, in Edwardsburg, Mich., son of Dudley and Audrey (Crane) Cook. He was a graduate of Baraboo High School, Baraboo, Wis. Following high school, John served his country with the Navy from 1958 to 1962.
John was employed as a supervisor with John Deere Dubuque Works until his retirement. He also was employed as a driver for Betty Jane Candies, Dubuque.
John was an avid sports fan, enjoying boxing, college football and especially the Green Bay Packers. He loved to celebrate and decorate for Christmas and was known to collect many ornaments. John also enjoyed trying his luck at the casino. He and his wife, Carol, enjoyed traveling to many places together. John had a vibrant personality and will be sadly missed.
Surviving are his wife, Carol, of Dubuque; children, Randy (Geri) Cook, of Highland, Ill., Julie (Darwin) Chapman, of North Freedom, Wis., Joel Cook, of Baraboo, Cherie (Mike) Dremsa, of Boscobel, Wis., Kim (Mark) Jackson, of Cashton, Wis., and Jeff (Ann) Cook, of Isanti, Mich.; three stepchildren, Aaron (Natalie) Harwood, of Iron River, Wis., Shane (Nicole) Harwood, of Atlanta, and Adam Harwood, of Dubuque; 18 grandchildren, Jessica, Tara, Trista, Alyssa, Evan, Jonathan, Brian, Hali, Olivia, Makenzie, Daniel, Reese, Tucker, Eric, Jordan, Nathan, Josh and Sara; a son-in-law, Joel Hegvik, of East Bethel, Minn.; a brother-in-law, Jack Goddard, of McFarland, Wis.; and his former spouses, Sonja Thompson, of Baraboo, and Ardis Cook, of Boscobel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jamie Hegvik; and a sister, Marlene Goddard.
