Mrs. Eraste Dupre, 80, Expires, Rites Are Held In Ville Platte
Beloved Mrs. Eraste Dupre, a resident of Ville Platte for the past forty years, died Tuesday at the age of 80 years. She leaves eleven children and many grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in the chapel of Ardoin's funeral home, and she was buried in the Old Pioneer cemetery in Ville Platte. "Aunt Mary", to her many thousands of friends, was born Mary Loucinde Carroll, daughter of Thomas R. Carroll and Mercy Ann Whittington, on July 21, 1870, at Carroll Crossing, Rapides parish. She had been in ill health for the past five years. Eleven children survive: Seven daughters, Miss Lee LaFleur and Mrs. W. V. Soileau, both of Ville Platte; Mrs. F. A. Dupuis, Opelousas; Mrs. Roy Guidry, Church Point; Mrs. Lou Neson, Clinton, and Mrs. W. J. Domengeaux, Port Authur, Tex.; four sons, Yves Dupre, Opelousas; Lester and Lloyd Dupre both of Port Authur, and E. J. Lafleur, New Orleans.
