Andrew J. Cloud Taken by Death
On January 13, 1953 A.J. "Andrew" Cloud passed away at the home of his son Drew Cloud, Jr., in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He was 70 years old at the time of his death. He had been in failing health for the past five years.
Andrew Cloud was born in the Harmony Community in Comanche County on January 8, 1883 he being the oldest child of the late Jerry and Sarah Elizabeth Cloud. He with his parents moved to Comanche when he was a small child. He worked in Comanche as a teamster and brick mason when he was a young man and later moved to New Mexico where he lived most of the rest of his life.
He was married to Nellie English in 1921 and to this union eight children were born, three sons and five daughters all of whom survive him with the except of two small daughters who preceded him in death. Surviving are the following:
Mrs. D.H. Hovermale, Lemon Grove, Calif.; Mrs. Dorothy Olsen, Spokane, Wash.; Drew Cluod (sic), Jr., Carlsbad, N.M..; James L. Cloud, Lubbock; Donald Cloud of the U.S. Army; and Anna Louise Cloud, Lubbock.
He is also survived by two brothers, D.C. Cloud, Comanche and M.L. Cloud of Brownwood, nine grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Harry Cloud, Pete Cloud, Carrol Loudermilk, Jeff Terrill, Tom Douglas, and Robert Brown.
