Notes	Obituary: J. W. CLOUD OF RELIANCE DEAD J. W. Cloud, aged 86 years, died Monday, October 26th at 6 a.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Zeph Jones and family , in the Reliance community. For the past several weeks, Mr. Cloud has been quite ill, and on account of his advanced age, little hope has been entertained for his recovery. His children, two sons, and two daughters, were at his bedside during his last illness, and all that loving hands and tender care, linked with the best medical skill could do, was done, but the spirit of the beloved father and grandfather, passed away at the hour above stated. J. W. Cloud was a man among men, noble, upright and true to every characteristic of Christian manhood. He was a pioneer in Texas and in Brazos county having come to this section of the state from his native home in Georgia, about 1865, soon after the close of the civil war. He was a veteran of the confederacy, and served throughout the entire four years of that bloody strife, with honorable and valient services. He was in the Virginia campaign, and was badly wounded in the seven days fight around Richmond. Later, he remained in a war hospital at Richmond, while recovering from his wound. After his health was regained, he came to Texas and has made Brazos county his home throughout a long and useful lifetime. For the past sixty years, he and his good wife, who only passed away a few months ago, leaving her life companion, here alone for a short time, have been citizens of this county and known and beloved by all. Here they reared their family of noble sons and daughters, they served their day and generation nobly and fathfully, and now, they are again united in that home above. Two sons and two daughters survive; T. A. Cloud, of Bryan; Arch W. Cloud of Goose Creek; Mrs. J. P. Gilpin of Kurten, and Mrs. Zeph Jones of the Reliance community. The funeral will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Zeph Jones of Reliance, Tuesday , October 27th with interment following at old Tryon church cemetery, at 10: o'clock a.m. The Bryan Daily Eagle, Mon. 26 Oct. 1925
