Notes - Apparently worked in Dalton's home helping care for his wife, Selma. A Lula Hebert is recorded living with them in the 1900 census as his sister-in-law and may be this same person. By September 26, 1902, she had married Dalton Whittington, Sr. Eventually had to be committed to a mental hospital in Bexar County, Texas. Her estate was inventoried April 4th, 1921 in Orange County and showed 40 acres of land in Calcasieu p... valued at $200, 1/2 interest in lots 3 & 4 block no. 20 amended Sheldon survey of City of Orange with her half being worth $1000. And on March 1, 1921, guardianship for her is granted to D.E. Whittington, she being "now confined to the asylum for the insane in San Antonio, Texas".

February 4th 1884, Newton County "ordered by the Court that Mrs. L.A. Hebert be appointed Guardian of the Estate of Selmer, Nettie and John Seybold, minors" (Case No. 217). Warranty Deed (Newton County), dated FEB 4, 1892, showing P.S.C. Smith sold for $800 land in Orange, Texas to "L.A. Herbert, Selmer Whittington, Nettie McAllen, and John O. Seybold".
The property described as Lots 3 & 4, Block 22 of the Nathan Cordray Survey in Orange, Texas belonged to Leatha Ann Hebert and she paid the taxes. Caesar's name does not show up on the tax receipts. But in 1910 the tax bill is addressed, not to Mrs. L.A. Hebert, but to "the L.A. Hebert Est.", indicating Leatha Ann died about 1909.
