Interview with Cree Cullers, sister to Charles Cullers 8/02
" I remember my brother walking up behind Grandma (Kate Roberts Cullers) In Jamestown thru the cemetery to a pond made from abandoned mine shafts. Pep (Charles Cullers) would catch frogs, blow them up with his mouth, throw them back into the pond where they couldn't go underwater because they were so full of air. We then would throw rocks at them and when they were hit they could back under.
I also remember in Jamestown they had trap door spiders. Pep would show me the doors, dig up the nests and thousands of spiders would run all over. I can also remember him putting daddy long legs on my arm and letting them walk on my arm.
In Richmond he had a pet black widow in the corner of the garage. He would catch flies by hand and throw them into the web, for the spider to eat."
Interview with June Mylar, cousin to Charles Cullers 8/2002
"I remember we would sit in the big cork tree outside Grandma Cullers house in Jamestown and spit on the cars going by. Your dad used to make me go to the cemetery at night and he knew how scared I was."

Sharon Kay Cullers McChrystal, daughter of Charles Cullers
My family, Steve, Mark, Michael, Lynne and I went to see my father on his 80th b'day. I started a scrapbook for him with photos and memories of growing up. He told me with tears in his eyes that it was the best present he got and that he could have been a much better father and husband. I told him he always made me feel special and loved. He said " When you were born and I looked at you, you were the most precious thing in the world to me." It was a special moment.
My grandmother named my dad Clinton Charles Cullers, He was known an Clint and was called Pep by his family. When he went to get a copy of his birth certificate to joint the navy he discovered his father had put his name down as Charles Clinton instead of Clinton Charles. From then on he was called Charles; Charlie and Chuck to friends.
