Notes - Uncle Harry always lied about his age. He made himself two years older than he was to join the Marine Corps during WWI. I remember when we started doing research on the family and found the marriage certificate for his mother and father. He joked about them having been married when he was born. He said it was a relief to know he wasn't illegitimate. He wouldn't have had to joke if he hadn't added two years to his actual age. Even SSDI records list his birth year as 1898, although subsequent census records show he was really born in 1900.
