Whittinton, House of Representatives who sought information on Whittington men who served in Rev. War and whose ancestors were possibly John, Moses and Arter Whittington who came over with Oglethorpe. He was especially interested in Milton Levi Whittington, son of John, and in the descendants of Moses. The respondent wrote "The only records of soldiers with surname Whittington found on the Revolutionary War records of this office are those of John Whittington, S. 33722, served in the Delaware troops; living in Kentucky in 1820, aged eight-four years. Cornelius Whittington, S. 7892, served in Georgia and South Carolina troops; living in Mississippi in 1835, aged eighty-three years. Faddy Whittington, S. 32063, stated he was born in 1752; served in North Carolina troops; living in Georgia in 1855 and then stated he was aged ninety-eight years. Grief Whittington, S. 7883, served in South Carolina troops; living in Mississippi in 1833, aged seventy-one years. Jarratt Whittington, R. 11491, served in South Carolina troops; was drowned in the Amite River, Mississippi, about 1832 and left widow Mary. Grief Whittington stated that he was a cousin of Jarratt and Richard Whittington. Nathaniel Whittington, S. 9527, born 1762, served in South Carolina troops; was living in South Carolina in 1850. Richard Whittington, W. 535, born 1753, served in South CArolina troops; died in 1835; left widow Mary (nee Whittington, daughter of Cornelius Whittington)."
